Donald E. Hensel, 87, of Janesville passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 12,2012 at his home in Madisonville, Louisiana. Donald was born in Janesville, WI on July 6th, 1925, the son of Herbert and Hazel (Churchill) Hensel. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1944. He served in the U. S. Air Force from October 3, 1945 until October 22, 1946. Donald married the love of his life, Inez Jensen, on May 19, 1945. They enjoyed 62 years together in marriage until Inez’ death in 2007. Donald and his brother, Robert were owners of Hensel Brothers Excavating in Janesville for nearly 40 years.
Surviving are: son, Gerald and his wife, Jonny of Foley, AL and their 4 children, Shawn Hall, Shellie Ruiz-Tillman, Jim Hensel, Jay Hensel, their 9 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, son, Daniel and his wife, Jeri of Fountain Hills, AZ and their children, Brian Hensel and Dana Mulberry and their 6 great grandchildren, son, Donald and his wife, Kay of Madisonville, LA and their children, Alexandra, Samantha and Madalyn Hensel, a sister-in-law, Gladys Hensel of Palm Springs, CA, many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, Inez and his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Jim, his brother Robert and his wife, Edna.
“You were a great and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. You were always a genuinely kind and decent man. We will always remember you. We will always love you.”
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Oak Hill Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Amstutz will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post # 1621. The family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. www.henkeclarson.com.
